Capitol Hill Wedding, Washington, D.C. | Kerry & Kevin

To sum up Kerry and Kevin’s wedding in 3 words: Irish, elegant, and heartwarming.

We started our big day around Washington DC at the Phoenix Park Hotel where Kerry and Kevin were getting ready. My husband Ross and I split up to photograph the wedding parties getting ready. There was a peace in the air as they were surrounded by their friends- the boys drank Irish whiskey and the girls toasted champagne in their separate rooms. During the planning process, Kerry thought and prepared for literally everything, and it was so evident because of the calm energy in the air. Before we left to meet Kevin, Kerry had a first look with her dad which brought everyone to tears (me included.)

Ross and Kevin made their way to the front steps of the National Gallery of Art for the first-look. Kerry arrived and it seriously felt like a movie as she walked up the marble steps to meet Kevin. We strolled around the National Gallery of Art for portraits. Even though there were hundreds of visitors at the museum, we were able to frame shots so it looked like it was only us surrounded by the incredible works of art.

After our portrait session, we met up with the wedding party for photos at Union Station. We got a mini DC architecture tour with these locations and it was such a treat. After Union Station, we hustled over to the incredibly beautiful Holy Rosary Catholic Church where Kerry and Kevin made it official.

The party started straight away after the “I Do’s”. We hightailed it to Eastern Market for a lovely celebration complete with a traditional Irish band, heart-touching toasts that had everyone in tears, and Kevin’s dad singing Danny Boy.

Ross and I couldn’t have asked for a more down-to-earth couple to run around DC with for the day!
